In 2034, Owen Cho is a 14-year-old boy living with his grandmother, Granny Cho, after losing both of his parents. His father, Yung, was a brilliant engineer at Nova Corp, known for inventing a revolutionary chip that could change the virtual reality (VR) industry forever. Yung’s vision for the chip was to empower users and make VR fun again, but the company’s CEO, Dorian, saw it as a tool for profit and control. After a heated argument, Yung quit Nova Corp, taking his invention with him. Tragically, he died in a car crash shortly after, leaving Owen and his grandmother with a doughnut shop, VR headset, blueprints, a personal journal locked away in a safe.

Curious and longing for a connection with his father, Owen breaks into the safe one night and discovers the hidden technology. As he plays with his father’s VR headset, Owen uncovers its unique abilities—thanks to the chip, he can access Nova Corp’s back end. Owen is shy and reserved, struggling to make friends at school and at Virtual Beans where he works. He taps into the tournament and boost player attributes of the gamer to beat Derek's team.

Meanwhile, Derek, the son of Nova Corp’s CEO, runs to his dad to notify him that Nova has been hacked. Dorian finds the IP address and realizes it is connected to Cho. Dorian tells Derek to investigate Virtual Beans. Derek steals Owens headset and brings it back to Nova Corp. Nova Corp R&D begin to reverse engineer the headset.

Owen is devastated that the headset has been stolen. He is then consoled by Camille and the gamers at Virtual Beans. He is encouraged to infiltrate Nova Corp. Owen grabs the blueprints and with donated parts and engineers a new headset. He downloads blueprints and security details to break into Nova Corp.

Owen is met by Derek and Dorian who crush Yung’s headset. Owen puts on the new headset and shuts down Nova Corp. He restarts Nova Corps back end and post the source code on Reddit.
